These are helmets similar to a full face helmet but the entire front can flip up. Then there are snocross helmets which are essentially motocross helmets with a breath box installed. And some people prefer to go with a 3/4 open face helmet. Although this type of helmet will expose the face to the elements.

What makes a snowmobile helmet a snowmobile helmet? Well, in most cases the helmet will have a breath box or guard and come with a dual lens snow shield. You can also add as an option an electric face shield. This option will tend to boost the ability of the shield to resist fogging.
