Snowmobile Layering Apparel Buyers Guide

When you are getting ready for a ride on your sled one of the first things you'll do is get dressed for it. This means deciding on what to wear underneath your snowmobile apparel. Gone are the days of wearing jeans and a sweatshirt underneath your outfit. Instead today's riders dress in layers using the appropriate layering apparel.

Snowmobile Layering Guidelines

What not to wear

Whatever you do, don't wear cotton as a base layer. Cotton will soak up your sweat and stay wet. This will make you cold and miserable in a real hurry. This includes not wearing jeans or cotton underwear.

What to wear

When choosing your layering apparel you should start with something made out of polyester or another wicking fabric. What you want is something that will not absorb sweat and serve as a light insulating layering.

Next, look for something made out of fleece. This would be your next insulating layer or will serve as your after ride jacket and or pants. On warmer days, you might not need the fleece layering. On other days you will be glad you had it.
